Kärdla Port (Estonia)

Weather…

Kärdla Port is the primary maritime gateway to the island of Hiiumaa, situated on the island's northern coast along Tareste Bay. The history of the harbor is deeply intertwined with the town's industrial past, specifically the establishment of a broadcloth factory in 1829 which required maritime access for trade. During World War II, the original port facilities were almost entirely destroyed, leaving the area derelict for several decades. It was not until 2014 that the port was reopened following an extensive reconstruction project, transforming it into a modern marina. The facility now gives 58 berths and is designed to accommodate vessels with a draft of up to 3 meters. In addition to maritime infrastructure, the port features tourist amenities such as a restaurant and service buildings, playing a crucial role in the revitalization of the island's tourism sector.
