💡 Tips
- Be cautious near the edge of the limestone cliffs as they can be unstable. Late afternoon gives the best light for photography.
- Visit both the old and new lighthouses standing side by side. You will need to buy a ticket to climb the new lighthouse.
- Bring a windbreaker, as the peninsula is often very windy even during the summer.
- You will find parking near the lighthouse, but it can get crowded on summer weekends.
🍽 Food
Look for small local stands or cafes near the coast offering fresh smoked fish.
A warming meal after a windy walk, available in the taverns of the surrounding villages.
Try this traditional Estonian sweet made of grains and yogurt in one of the local cafes.
🛍 Shopping · 🧘 Quiet spots
Look out for small stands near the main attractions offering local handicrafts.
Occasionally, locals sell honey and jams directly on the roadside on the peninsula.
Walk along the paths away from the lighthouse to enjoy the quiet nature of the limestone coast.
Head slightly inland; the dense forests provide a wind-sheltered, peaceful retreat.

The Pakri Peninsula is characterized by its sheer limestone cliffs, reaching heights of up to 25 meters above the Baltic Sea. It is part of the Baltic Klint, a geological formation stretching across Northern Estonia. The tip of the peninsula is home to Estonia's tallest lighthouse (52 meters) and the ruins of an older one commissioned by Peter the Great. Due to its strategic location, it was a closed military zone for decades, leaving behind Soviet-era coastal batteries and bunkers. Today, it is a protected landscape area, offering rugged hiking trails and some of the best sunset views in the country.
