Milovice has a unique history. Once a large military training area, it became the headquarters of Soviet troops after 1968. After their departure in 1991, the area was revitalized. Today, it's a fascinating place where history and nature meet. Part of it became Mirakulum Park, one of the largest amusement parks in the Czech Republic, with underground tunnels and castles. Another part became a nature reserve where wild horses and wisents were introduced to maintain the landscape. This contrast makes Milovice a special destination. The town is easily accessible by train from Prague, making it a good day trip. The best time to visit is from late spring to early autumn.
