Jablonec nad Nisou lies in the scenic valley of the Neisse River at the foot of the Jizera Mountains and is world-renowned as a center for glass and jewelry production. The city experienced its greatest economic boom in the 19th and early 20th centuries, when the manufacturing of glass beads and fashion jewelry turned Jablonec into a global export powerhouse. This golden era is reflected in the city's architecture, which features numerous Art Nouveau villas and a striking functionalist town hall. The Museum of Glass and Jewelry is, housing one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of its kind in the world. Beyond its industrial heritage, Jablonec is a major hub for sports, often called the gateway to the Jizera Mountains, offering top-tier conditions for cross-country skiing and mountain biking. The Mšeno Reservoir, located on the edge of the city, serves as a popular recreational area for swimming and sailing during the summer months.
