Třinec Iron and Steel Works (Czech Republic)

Weather…

The Třinec Iron and Steel Works (Třinecké železárny) is the largest steel producer in the Czech Republic, located in eastern Silesia near the borders with Poland and Slovakia. Founded in 1839 by Archduke Charles of Austria-Teschen, the works rapidly developed into an industrial giant due to rich ore deposits and a favorable location on the railway line. The plant is known for its production of high-quality wire rod, rails, and bar steel, used worldwide in the automotive and construction industries. Třinecké železárny operates a closed metallurgical cycle, from the coking plant and blast furnaces to the rolling mills. The company is deeply rooted in the local culture, operating the successful HC Oceláři Třinec ice hockey club, among other things. In recent years, massive investments have been made in ecological modernizations to significantly reduce the environmental impact in the Moravian-Silesian region.
