Novska is a town in central-eastern Croatia, located in the Sisak-Moslavina County at the gateway to the Slavonia region. Its development was drastically accelerated in the late 19th century by the construction of the railway line connecting Zagreb and Belgrade, making Novska a primary transport hub for the Balkans. The town's historical center is defined by the Parish Church of St. Luke, built in 1773, which remains one of the finest examples of late Baroque architecture in the Sava river basin. During the Croatian War of Independence in the 1990s, the town was situated on the front line and sustained heavy damage before being carefully restored in the following decade. Today, Novska is transforming its economy from traditional timber and manufacturing sectors into a growing hub for digital technology and the gaming industry. Surrounded by the dense forests of the Lounjska plain and near the Lonjsko Polje Nature Park, the town serves as a crucial point for both industry and eco-tourism in central Croatia.
