Trsteno is a unique coastal village located about 18 kilometers north of Dubrovnik. Its main attraction is the Trsteno Arboretum, established in the late 15th century by the Gučetić noble family. It is recognized as one of the oldest botanical monuments in the world, showcasing a masterful blend of Renaissance garden design and exotic flora. Many of the plants were brought back from across the globe by Dubrovnik's sea captains over the centuries. At the entrance to the village stand two massive oriental plane trees, over 450 years old, with trunk circumferences exceeding 12 meters. In recent years, Trsteno gained global fame as a filming location for the 'Game of Thrones' series, where its lush pathways served as the gardens of King's Landing. The arboretum's centerpiece is the 18th-century Neptune Fountain, supplied by a grand stone aqueduct that remains functional today. A steep path leads from the village down to a secluded rocky cove with a wide-open view of the Elaphiti Islands.
