Mlini is one of the most pleasant resorts in the Župa Dubrovačka region, situated just 10 kilometers south of Dubrovnik. The village derives its name from the numerous watermills that were once powered by the abundant local freshwater springs. These springs still flow through the settlement today, discharging into the sea as small streams and keeping the coastal waters exceptionally clean and slightly cooler. Mlini is characterized by its lush Mediterranean vegetation, with gardens filled with lively flowers and aromatic pine forests lining its varied beaches, which range from fine pebble to sandy stretches. The historic Church of St. Hilarius, originally built in the 15th century and restored after a 17th-century earthquake, remains a key cultural landmark. A scenic seaside path connects Mlini to the neighboring villages of Srebreno and Kupari, providing a first-rate route for evening walks. Regular boat services run from the local pier to Dubrovnik’s Old Town and Cavtat, making it a good tranquil base for exploring the wider region.
The most pleasant time to visit is Jun, Jul, Sep.
