Srebrenik is a historically significant and economically emerging city in northeastern Bosnia, beautifully located within the pretty valley of the Tinja River. The absolute iconic landmark of the city and the surrounding region is the spectacular Srebrenik Fortress (Gradina), which perches majestically on a steep, highly inaccessible rock high above the valley and is widely considered one of the best-preserved medieval castles in the entire Balkans. Historically, the fortress held enormous strategic importance and once served as the royal residence for Bosnian kings. In addition to the lively tourism drawn by the castle, Srebrenik is today a strong hub for medium-sized enterprises. Numerous lively businesses in plastics processing, the metal industry, and regional trade form the robust backbone of the flourishing local economy.
