Over the past twenty years, the Port of Ostend has undergone a remarkable economic metamorphosis, evolving from a traditional ferry and fishing port into the undisputed European hub for offshore wind energy. This strategic realignment has catapulted the port into the center of the Belgian "Blue Economy." Today, Ostend serves as an indispensable base for the construction, installation, and ongoing maintenance of numerous gigantic wind farms in the North Sea. Highly specialized vessels, massive installation cranes, and highly skilled engineering teams dominate the port's landscape. By attracting leading companies from the renewable energy sector and establishing specialized offshore training centers, the port has not only created hundreds of future-proof jobs but also positioned Belgium as a pioneer in the ambitious European energy transition.
