Blankenberge is one of the most popular destinations on the Belgian North Sea coast, known for its animated atmosphere. The city's landmark is the 350-meter-long Belgium Pier, built in 1933 in Art Deco style, offering panoramic views of the sea. The resort has an extensive sandy beach, which serves as a hub for sports activities and beach clubs during the summer. Families often visit the Sea Life Centre to learn about local marine life or the Belle Epoque Centrum, which documents the golden era of seaside resorts. The Blankenberge marina is a central meeting point for sailors and features numerous restaurants overlooking the boats. Every year in August, the magnificent Flower Parade (Bloemencorso) attracts thousands of visitors. The city is excellently connected by rail to Bruges and Brussels, making it a handy destination for day trips. The nightlife is particularly active, thanks to the casino and the many bars along the beach promenade. The best time to visit is mid-summer when the town is at its liveliest.
