Brasschaat is an extremely wealthy and green municipality in the province of Antwerp, often described as one of the most exclusive residential areas in Belgium. Known as the "municipality of parks," Brasschaat is famous for its extensive woodland areas, magnificent avenues, and luxury villa neighborhoods, which traditionally attract wealthy Antwerp citizens as a place of residence. The absolute centerpiece of the town is the Peerdsbos, a majestic castle park surrounding the grand Brasschaat Castle (Kasteel van Brasschaat), which is today a popular center for culture and gastronomy. Another significant natural and recreational area is De Inslag, good for walks and relaxation. The municipality has a flourishing, upscale retail and gastronomy scene along the Bredabaan and a highly respected open-air museum (Ghemar Museum) dedicated to the Brasschaat-Polygoon artillery shooting range, a historical military installation.
