Bouillon is inextricably linked to its monumental castle, which towers over the town on a narrow rocky ridge. The fortress is considered one of Belgium's most significant castle complexes and was the ancestral seat of Godfrey of Bouillon, leader of the First Crusade. Bouillon Castle is accessible inside and outside; the old town lanes are freely walkable. The interior visit includes ramparts, dungeons, and often a birds-of-prey show. Audio guides are available in multiple languages.

The castle typically opens at 10am and closes between 5pm and 7pm depending on the season. Winter closures often on Monday or Tuesday. Last entry one hour before closing; check for bank holidays.

Reach Bouillon by car via E25/E411, parking at the town entrance. By train, go to Libramont and catch bus line 5 to Bouillon; the journey takes about 30 minutes by bus.
