Nesvizh Castle, built starting in 1583 by Mikołaj Krzysztof Radziwiłł the Orphan, is a magnificent residential palace of the famous Radziwiłł noble family. Originally designed as a Renaissance fortress by the Italian architect Giovanni Maria Bernardoni, the castle was redesigned several times over the following centuries, acquiring Baroque and Neoclassical elements. In addition to the majestic palace, the complex includes an extensive landscape park and the Corpus Christi Church, which is considered one of the earliest Baroque houses of worship in Eastern Europe and houses the Radziwiłł family crypt. After a turbulent history, including looting during the Great Northern War in 1706 and during the Soviet era, the ensemble underwent comprehensive restoration starting in the late 1990s. In 2005, it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
