Lake Dryvyaty (Belarus)

Weather…

Lake Dryvyaty, with a total area of approximately 36 square kilometers, is the largest and most famous body of water within the Braslav Lakes region in northern Belarus. The lake has a slightly asymmetrical shape, stretching almost ten kilometers in length, and was shaped by pronounced glacial relief, giving it a maximum water depth of twelve meters. Upon the water's surface lie six small, easy on the eye islands, which together cover an area of 0.9 square kilometers. Situated on the northern shore of the lake is the historic small town of Braslav, which gave the entire national park its name and today serves as the tourist hub of the region. The shorelines of Lake Dryvyaty are alternately fringed by dense reed beds, sandy beaches, and coniferous forests. The water body is particularly noted for its abundance of fish species, such as zander, pike, and eel, making it a significant location for both fish farming and sport fishing.
