Braslau is a historic town located in the far northwest of Belarus, within the Vitebsk Region, and ranks among the oldest urban settlements in the country. First mentioned in 1065, it served as a vital stronghold for the Principality of Polotsk during the Middle Ages. Today, Braslau is widely recognized as the administrative and tourist center of the Braslau Lakes National Park, which features over 300 glacial lakes and a unique undulating landscape. The historic core is situated on Castle Hill (Zamkovaya Gora), providing panoramic vistas of Lake Drivyaty. Notable architectural sites include the late 19th-century Catholic Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Orthodox Church of the Assumption.
