Dardhë is one of Albania's premier rural tourist destinations, tucked away in the Morava Mountains at an elevation of 1344 meters. Founded in the 17th century by settlers seeking religious refuge, the village has meticulously preserved its unique Orthodox Christian identity. Its architecture is characterized by sturdy stone houses with slate roofs and narrow cobblestone paths that transport visitors back in time. Travelers visit Dardhë for its serene atmosphere and exceptional local cuisine. The most iconic dish is 'Lakror me dy peta,' a traditional leek or spinach pie baked over hot coals under a metal dome called a 'saç.' Remarkably, the village also hosts the region's only functional ski slope, making it a rare hub for winter sports in Albania. Located about 20 kilometers from Korçë, it is reached via a scenic mountain pass. While summer is great for trekking and visiting mineral springs in the surrounding woods, winter draws crowds for skiing and snowy retreats. Dardhë provides an authentic slice of Albanian highland life, complemented by cozy, high-quality guesthouses.
