The Cangonj Managed Nature Reserve is situated in southeastern Albania near the city of Korçë, spanning approximately 250 hectares along the Devoll River valley. This protected area serves as a significant ecological transition zone between the Korçë plateau and the Prespa basin. Established in 1996, the reserve aims to preserve the remaining fragments of original riparian forests and the associated riverine ecosystem. It is a vital sanctuary for various waterfowl and functions as a migration corridor for large mammals moving between adjacent mountain ranges. The vegetation primarily consists of willow, poplar, and alder trees, which form dense gallery forests along the riverbanks. Geologically, the area is characterized by alluvial deposits from the Devoll River, resulting in fertile soils that support a rich variety of plant life. The reserve plays an essential role in regional water management and acts as a natural filter for the river. Best season
Spring (May-June) and early autumn (September) are well-suited for observing brown bears in Cangonj Nature Reserve. In summer the animals are less active due to heat and retreat to higher elevations.

Etiquette
