Hairatan Border Port (Afghanistan)

Weather…

Hairatan is the most important border crossing between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan and one of the country's most significant trade hubs. Located in Balkh Province, it is connected to the Uzbek city of Termez via the Afghanistan-Uzbekistan Friendship Bridge. The port is the terminus of the only operational railway line in Afghanistan, which is crucial for freight traffic and extends to Mazar-i-Sharif. About half of all Afghan imports are handled through Hairatan, including vital goods such as wheat, flour, fuel, and construction materials. Its strategic location and railway connection make Hairatan an indispensable gateway for trade with Central Asia and beyond, contributing significantly to the economic stability of the northern provinces.
