Weather…

Kampyr Tepe is a major archaeological site on the right bank of the Amu Darya river, located about 30 kilometers west of Termez in Uzbekistan. Founded in the late 4th century BC, the city is widely identified by scholars, most notably Edvard Rtveladze, as the historical Alexandria on the Oxus, established by Alexander the Great. The site functioned as a heavily fortified citadel and a crucial river port, facilitating trade and military movements across the Oxus river. It reached its zenith during the Kushan period in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, becoming a prosperous urban center with sophisticated defensive walls and residential planning. Excavations have uncovered well-preserved fortifications, bastions, and a wealth of artifacts including coins and terracotta figurines that highlight its role as a cultural melting pot. Kampyr Tepe remains one of the most significant monuments of the Hellenistic and Kushan eras in the region.
