Visiting
Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is open to visitors, but cave access is only via guided tours. Some caves like Phong Nha Cave are easily accessible, while others like Son Doong require multi-day expeditions. The park is open year-round, but the best time is from February to August.
Typical hours
The national park typically has no fixed closing times, but tours depart at specific morning hours. Phong Nha Cave is usually open from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. Advance booking is highly recommended for popular tours.
Photography
Photography is allowed in most caves, but without flash in sensitive areas. For some tours, waterproof cameras or GoPros are recommended. Drones are banned throughout the national park to protect wildlife.
Time needed

Getting there
The park is about 50 km northwest of Dong Hoi, the nearest city. Buses and taxis run regularly from Dong Hoi to the park entrance. Traveling by motorbike is also common and flexible.
