Sam Son
Sam Son is one of Vietnam's oldest seaside resorts, first established by French colonists in 1906 as a retreat. The town is defined by its six-kilometer stretch of golden sand, which slopes gently into the East Sea, making it a favorite for swimming and sunbathing. Perched on the cliffs of Truong Le Mountain is the Dok Cooc Temple, a site steeped in local legends about a giant who protected the coast. Visitors flock here to enjoy incredibly fresh seafood, often sold directly by fishermen on the beach at sunrise. The area provides a blend of natural beauty and cultural landmarks, including the nearby Co Tien Pagoda. The peak season falls between May and August, when the sunny weather is great for a beach getaway. It is easily accessible by road from Thanh Hoa city, serving as a popular weekend escape for people from the surrounding regions.
