Getting there
Access to this remote national park typically requires coordinating with local guides or eco-tourism operators from the town of Nakai. Reaching the deep interior often involves a combination of rugged 4x4 vehicles and local river boats.
Best season
The dry season, running from November to March, is the most practical time to visit, offering accessible roads and navigable river routes. During the wet season, heavy rainfall makes many areas of the park completely impassable.

The terrain is incredibly rugged and densely forested, featuring steep limestone karst mountains and an extensive network of rivers. Trails are mostly unpaved, unmarked, and require navigating through thick tropical undergrowth.
What to bring
Sturdy, waterproof trekking boots, long pants, and long-sleeved shirts are absolutely essential to protect against leeches and thorny vegetation. Pack a comprehensive first-aid kit, reliable insect repellent, and water purification gear.

There are virtually no official parking facilities near the park's dense interior. Visitors typically leave their vehicles at designated guesthouses or tour operator offices in Nakai before embarking on guided deep-forest expeditions.

Traveling independently in this wilderness is strongly discouraged due to the extreme remoteness and complete lack of cell service. Always hire experienced local guides who know the terrain, potential wildlife hazards, and river conditions.
Time needed
Due to the complex logistics of entering the area, visits usually require multi-day expeditions spanning three to five days. Shorter day trips are possible only on the extreme fringes of the park near the local reservoir areas.
