Tad Fane
Tad Fane is arguably the most dramatic waterfall in Laos, located in the lush Bolaven Plateau. It features two rivers converging to plunge 120 meters down a vertical cliff into a deep, circular gorge. Surrounded by the Dong Hua Sao National Protected Area, the falls offer a pristine natural backdrop that is often shrouded in a mystical mist, especially during the early morning hours. Adventure seekers can take part in a high-altitude zipline experience that glides directly over the canyon, providing a bird's-eye view of the twin falls. The Bolaven Plateau is also famous for its high-quality coffee, and many visitors enjoy a cup of local brew while admiring the view from the lookout points. The cooler altitude makes it a pleasant break from the heat of the Mekong lowlands. Located just off the main road between Pakse and Paksong, Tad Fane is easily accessible by motorbike or car. While the falls are most powerful during the rainy season (June to October), the dry season has clearer skies and better photography conditions.
