It rose to prominence under the Deicas family, who took over in 1979 and pioneered the modernization of Uruguayan winemaking, particularly in developing the Tannat grape as the country's flagship varietal. The centerpiece of the property is the historic 19th-century underground stone cellar, which provides convenient conditions for aging wines. Juanicó produces a wide range of wines but is especially renowned for its premium Tannat wines, which have garnered international acclaim.
