Vorontsov Palace (Odesa) (Ukraine)

Weather…

The Vorontsov Palace in Odesa was built between 1826 and 1828 for Mikhail Vorontsov, the Governor-General of the region. Designed by the architect Francesco Boffo, the palace is a prominent example of Russian Classicism and the Empire style. Located at the northern end of Primorsky Boulevard, the estate commands a strategic view over the Odesa port and the Black Sea coast. Its most famous feature is the separate colonnade, consisting of two rows of ten columns each, which stands at the edge of the plateau. During the Crimean War in 1854, the palace was heavily damaged by bombardment from British and French naval forces. Following extensive restorations, the building served various purposes, including a school and a youth palace, and now functions as a cultural center. The architectural ensemble remains a key landmark, symbolizing the city's 19th-century golden age.
