Shenborn Palace (Ukraine)

Weather…

Shenborn Palace, also known as the Hunting Lodge of the Counts of Schönborn, is situated near Mukachevo in Zakarpattia and was built between 1890 and 1895. The structure was designed in a Neo-Romantic and Neo-Renaissance style, characterized by its fairytale appearance with numerous towers and ornate gables. A unique architectural feature is its astronomical symbolism: the palace has 365 windows representing the days of the year, 52 rooms for the weeks, and 12 entrances for the months. Surrounding the palace is a sprawling English landscape park featuring rare tree species and an artificial lake whose original shape mimicked the boundaries of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Currently, the former noble residence serves as the 'Karpaty' sanatorium but remains open to tourists who come to admire the well-preserved architecture and serene surroundings. It is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and best-preserved castles in Western Ukraine.
