Pivdenne, also known internationally as Yuzhne, is a modern port city in the Odesa Oblast on the Black Sea in southern Ukraine. The city was founded as recently as 1978, making it one of the country's youngest cities. Its creation is inextricably linked to the construction of the Pivdenne seaport, which has developed into one of the largest and deepest ports in Ukraine and the entire Black Sea basin. The port is a crucial hub for international trade, especially for the export of grain, fertilizers, and other goods. Pivdenne's urban landscape is characterized by modern Soviet architecture and rational planning, with wide streets and ample green spaces.
