The Kyiv Zoo was founded in 1909 and is one of the oldest and most significant zoological parks in Ukraine. Located in the heart of the capital, it spans an area of approximately 34 hectares and houses a diverse collection of animals from across the globe. The zoo serves not only as a public attraction but also as a key center for scientific research and the conservation of endangered species. Extensive modernizations have been carried out in recent decades to align enclosures with contemporary animal welfare standards. Visitors can observe over 300 different animal species, including elephants, gorillas, and rare native fauna. Kyiv Zoo is open year-round, but spring and autumn offer the most pleasant temperatures. In summer, animals often stay in shaded enclosures, while in winter warmth-loving species move indoors.
