ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih is Ukraine's largest steel company and one of the world's most significant integrated metallurgical plants. Founded in 1934 as Kryvorizhstal, the facility is located in Kryvyi Rih, a region rich in vast iron ore deposits. Following the collapse of the Soviet Union, the plant remained state-owned until 2005, when it was acquired by Mittal Steel for $4.8 billion in one of the most transparent privatizations in Ukrainian history. Today, the complex covers the entire production cycle, from mining and coke production to the manufacturing of finished rolled steel products. The company employs tens of thousands of workers and is a major exporter, with its products used globally in construction and machinery. In recent years, billions have been invested in modernization to increase energy efficiency and reduce the significant environmental impact on the region.
