Namazga Depe is an extensive archaeological site in southern Turkmenistan that was inhabited for several millennia, from the Chalcolithic period to the late Bronze Age. Located on the edge of the Kaka settlement, the site covers approximately 70 hectares and gave its name to the Namazga culture, which significantly influenced the development of Central Asia. The excavation layers reveal the transition from small agricultural communities to an organized urban society. Particularly significant are the finds of painted ceramics featuring complex geometric and zoomorphic motifs, as well as evidence of advanced metallurgy. The city possessed sophisticated irrigation systems that enabled large-scale grain cultivation in this arid region. The decline of Namazga Depe in the 2nd millennium BC is likely related to soil exhaustion and the migration of the population to more fertile areas. Today, Namazga Depe is one of the most important sources for understanding the prehistoric settlement history of Central Asia.
