Coppet is an exclusive municipality on the shores of Lake Geneva in the district of Nyon, gaining world fame primarily through its connection to literary history. At its heart lies the magnificent Coppet Castle, acquired in the 18th century by Jacques Necker, finance minister to Louis XVI. His daughter, the famous writer Madame de Staël, turned the castle into a meeting point for the European intelligentsia in the early 19th century, known as the 'Groupe de Coppet.' The community maintains an exceptionally well-preserved historic center featuring characteristic arcaded houses from the 16th and 17th centuries. This architecture gives Coppet a unique charm reminiscent of the region's Savoyard past. Historically, the town was a vital stop on the road from Geneva to Lausanne, which encouraged the settlement of merchants and craftsmen. Today, Coppet is a preferred residential area for international employees from Geneva, yet it retains a quiet, village-like atmosphere. Its waterfront location with views of the Alps makes it one of the most sought-after spots on the 'Petit Lac'.
