Water temperature…
Rorschach is situated in a sheltered bay at the southernmost point of Lake Constance and looks back on over a thousand years of history. As early as the Middle Ages, the town was an important trading post and the most significant port for the export of grain and linen. The town's landmark is the Kornhaus, a monumental Baroque granary located directly at the harbor, which now houses a museum. The old town is characterized by magnificent houses with ornate oriel windows, bearing witness to the former wealth of trading families. The kilometers-long lakeside promenade is a major tourist attraction, first-rate for strolling, cycling, and relaxing. The annual Sand Sculpture Festival attracts artists and visitors from all over the world. Rorschach is also an important transport hub: railway lines from St. Gallen, Chur, and Romanshorn meet here, and the Rorschach-Heiden railway leads as a rack railway into the Appenzell hills. Boat services connect Rorschach with destinations in Germany and Austria. As a pilgrimage station on the Way of St. James, the town also has spiritual significance. Today, the economic structure is characterized by a mix of industry, commerce, and tourism, while its proximity to the city of St. Gallen also makes Rorschach an attractive place to live. The architecture is complemented by modern additions like the Würth Haus Rorschach, which brings art and culture directly to the lakeshore.
