Goldach is a municipality in the Rorschach district of the canton of St. Gallen and forms a continuous agglomeration with Rorschach and Rorschacherberg on the Swiss shores of Lake Constance. The town extends from the lake shore to the rolling hills of the hinterland. Its name is derived from the river of the same name, which flows through the municipality and into Lake Constance. Historically, Goldach was long characterized by agriculture and fruit growing, but evolved into a significant residential and commercial location following industrialization and the arrival of the railway. The transport situation is excellent, with direct access to the A1 motorway and the Lake Line railway. For those seeking relaxation, access to the lake gives diverse water sports opportunities and cycling paths along the shore. The infrastructure includes modern schools, sports facilities, and an active community life. Economically, Goldach is characterized by a mix of small businesses, service providers, and a few larger industrial companies. The architecture shows a mix of traditional timber-framed buildings in the old core and modern residential quarters, which attract many commuters from the St. Gallen region. The reformed church, which stands prominently on a hill above the village, is particularly worth seeing.
