Stockholm Palace (Sweden)

Weather…

Stockholm Palace, officially known as Kungliga slottet, is the official residence of the Swedish monarch and stands as one of Europe's grandest Baroque buildings. It was constructed on the site of the medieval 'Tre Kronor' castle, which was almost entirely destroyed by a catastrophic fire in 1697. Architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger designed the massive new structure, with completion finally achieved in 1760. The palace has more than 600 rooms spread across seven floors and houses several museums, including the Royal Treasury containing the crown jewels. Its facade reflects significant Italian influences, symbolizing Sweden's status as a major power during the 17th and 18th centuries. The daily Changing of the Guard ceremony in the outer courtyard is one of Stockholm's most popular and enduring tourist attractions.
