Royal Palace (Stockholm) (Sweden)

Weather…

The Royal Palace of Stockholm (Stockholms slott) is the official residence and primary ceremonial setting of the Swedish monarch, located in the historic Old Town (Gamla Stan). The current Baroque-style edifice was designed by architect Nicodemus Tessin the Younger following the catastrophic fire of 1697 that destroyed the former medieval fortress, known as 'Tre Kronor'. Construction spanned over five decades and was finally completed in 1754, blending elements of Roman Baroque with French Classicism. Featuring more than 600 rooms across seven floors, it ranks as one of the largest actively used royal palaces in Europe. It houses the Royal Apartments, the Treasury containing the regalia, the Tre Kronor Museum, and the Royal Armoury. The palace's imposing square structure with four wings enclosing a central courtyard serves as a testament to Sweden's era as a great power and continues to host state visits, royal audiences, and the daily changing of the guard.
