Bergius Botanical Garden (Sweden)

Weather…

The Bergius Botanical Garden (Bergianska trädgården) is beautifully situated on the shores of Brunnsviken in northern Stockholm. Its history dates back to 1791, when the brothers Bengt and Peter Jonas Bergius bequeathed their estate to the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. The garden was moved to its current location in 1885. A standout architectural feature is the Victoria House, a distinctive circular greenhouse built in 1900 specifically to accommodate the giant water lily, Victoria amazonica. Another major structure is the Edvard Anderson Conservatory, which showcases flora from Mediterranean and tropical climates. The outdoor areas include thematic gardens, a large rockery, and an extensive collection of fruit trees. The waterfront location combined with historic buildings makes the garden a vital cultural and scientific landmark. It functions as both a center for academic research and a popular public space for learning about plant biology and ecology.
