Rosendal Palace (Sweden)

Weather…

Rosendal Palace, located on the island of Djurgården in Stockholm, was built in the 1820s for King Charles XIV John. It is regarded as one of the purest examples of the Swedish Empire style, also known as the Karl Johan style. Architect Fredrik Blom designed the building as a summer residence, providing the King with a retreat from official court life at the Royal Palace. Architecturally significant, the building was originally conceived as a prefabricated wooden structure, a technical innovation of its time. The interior remains largely in its original state today, showcasing precious textiles, magnificent chandeliers, and furniture from the reign of the first Bernadotte king. The palace is surrounded by extensive parkland and the Rosendals Trädgård, which is famous for its ecological gardening and historical greenhouses.
