Puerto de Mogán, located on the southwest coast of Gran Canaria, is considered one of the most characterful places in the entire archipelago. Its nickname "Little Venice" comes from the small canals that connect the modern marina with the old fishing port, crossed by pretty bridges. The architecture of the town is strictly regulated: there are no high-rise buildings; instead, white houses with colorful window frames and doors dominate. The most striking feature, however, is the countless bougainvillea and hibiscus flowers that transform the streets into a sea of spirited colors. The town is largely pedestrianized, contributing to its relaxed and peaceful atmosphere. Visitors can relax on the sandy beach, protected by breakwaters from strong waves, or enjoy fresh fish specialties in the numerous restaurants. Every Friday, the town transforms into a lively commercial center with the large weekly market, where local handicrafts and fresh produce are offered. Despite its popularity, Puerto de Mogán has preserved its village character and provides a great retreat for those seeking peace. Divers also enjoy the clear waters off the coast, which house a rich underwater world.
The most pleasant time to visit is May–Jul.
