Puerto del Carmen, located on the southeast coast of Lanzarote, has evolved from a small fishing village called La Tiñosa into the island's most important tourist center. Despite its growth, the town has preserved its Canarian charm, especially in the old harbor area where fishing boats still lie alongside modern excursion vessels. The main attraction is the golden sandy beaches stretching over six kilometers, most notably Playa Grande, known for its calm waters and excellent infrastructure. Along the Avenida de las Playas, a kilometer-long promenade, numerous shops, international restaurants, and cafes line the way. After sunset, Puerto del Carmen transforms into the center of the island's nightlife, with a variety of bars and clubs for every taste. Sports enthusiasts find convenient conditions here for windsurfing, diving, and cycling. The central location also makes the town a well-suited starting point for excursions to Timanfaya National Park or the works of César Manrique. Puerto del Carmen gives the first-rate balance between a relaxed beach holiday and active leisure activities under the Canarian sun.
