Morro Jable sits on the southern coast of the Jandía peninsula, serving as the southernmost outpost of Fuerteventura's tourism. The town is split between an appealing old fishing village set into the hills and a modern tourist strip along the coast. Its crowning jewel is Playa del Matorral, a vast sandy beach separated from the hotels by the Saladar de Jandía, a protected salt marsh area. The tall lighthouse standing on the beach is the area's most recognizable landmark. Nature lovers shouldn't miss the Loggerhead turtle nursery located in the harbor, where injured turtles are rehabilitated. The port is also the departure point for whale and dolphin watching excursions. Its remote location ensures a peaceful atmosphere, while the nearby Jandía mountains offer rugged hiking trails with views over to the wild west coast of Cofete.
