Port of Ngqura (South Africa)

Weather…

The Port of Ngqura is South Africa's newest deep-water port, strategically located within the Coega Industrial Development Zone in the Eastern Cape. Opened in 2009, it was designed to relieve congestion at other ports and to support industrial growth in the region. The port features a natural water depth of up to 17 meters, enabling it to accommodate the largest container vessels. Its container terminal has an annual capacity of over 2 million TEUs, making it one of the most efficient in Africa. Ngqura also handles bulk commodities such as manganese, iron ore, and coal, as well as liquid bulk and automotive cargo. The port's integrated logistics network includes direct rail links to major mining areas. Its construction cost approximately 10 billion South African rand. As a key component of the Coega IDZ, it has attracted significant foreign direct investment.
