Selnica ob Dravi is a municipality situated on the left bank of the Drava River, northwest of Maribor. The settlement is historically significant as the site of the Fala Hydroelectric Power Plant, which began operations in 1918 and remains the oldest large-scale power plant on the Drava. The plant is now recognized as a technical monument and houses a museum documenting the early days of electrification in Slovenia. The surrounding area of Selnica is characterized by fertile soil and a mild climate, making the region a major center for fruit growing, particularly apples. Geographically, the settlement lies at the transition between the Drava Valley and the forested slopes of the Kozjak Mountains. Archaeological findings nearby suggest that the area was inhabited as early as the Roman era. Today, Selnica ob Dravi is an attractive residential community that combines natural beauty with the region's industrial heritage.
