Water temperature…
Zemplínska Šírava, located in eastern Slovakia near Michalovce, is the country's second-largest reservoir. It is widely known as the 'Slovak Sea' because of its exceptionally warm climate and high number of sunny days, causing the water to reach pleasant temperatures early in the season. The northern shore is lined with seven recreational areas, including Kaluža, Kamenec, and Hôrka, featuring pebble beaches, swimming pools, and docks for water sports like jet skiing and windsurfing. During July and August, the area becomes a major nightlife hub with numerous clubs, bars, and open-air festivals. For those seeking nature, the adjacent Vihorlat Mountains offer hiking trails to the remarkable Morské oko volcanic lake. The region's rich viticultural history also invites visitors to sample local Zemplín wines.
