Weather…

Mount Bisoke, also known as Visoke, is an active volcano in the Virunga Mountains, straddling the border between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Standing at 3,711 meters, it is characterized by its symmetrical cone shape. The mountain's most striking feature is its large summit crater lake, which measures approximately 450 meters across and is encased by steep, verdant cliffs. Its last recorded eruption occurred in 1957, which resulted in the formation of two small parasitic cones on its northern flank. Located within Rwanda's Volcanoes National Park, the mountain is a vital sanctuary for the endangered mountain gorillas. Historically, Mount Bisoke is famous for its association with primatologist Dian Fossey, whose research center, Karisoke, was established in the saddle between Bisoke and Mount Karisimbi. The hike to the summit leads visitors through diverse ecological zones, including dense bamboo forests and afro-alpine meadows.
