The Old Town Hall of Wrocław is one of the most magnificent Gothic secular buildings in Central Europe and the landmark of the Lower Silesian capital. Its construction history spans nearly 250 years, from the late 13th century to the mid-16th century. The East facade is particularly impressive, featuring elaborate stone decorations and an astronomical clock dating back to 1580. Inside, the town hall houses the City Museum of Wrocław, which documents the city's extensive and varied history. The famous Piwnica Świdnicka (Schweidnitz Cellar) in the basement is one of Europe's oldest restaurants, operating since the 14th century. The building integrates various architectural styles from Gothic to Renaissance, reflecting the growing wealth of the city during the Middle Ages. Despite the heavy destruction of Wrocław in 1945, the town hall remained largely spared and preserves much of its original substance. Today, it remains the central point of the Market Square (Rynek).
