Chorzów is a dynamic city located in the heart of the Upper Silesian Industrial Region, serving as a vital cultural and economic hub. Originally built on coal mining and heavy industry, particularly around the Huta Królewska (Royal Steelworks), the city has transitioned in recent decades into a major center for recreation and leisure. Its centerpiece is the Silesian Park (Park Śląski), one of the largest urban parks in Europe, developed on former industrial wasteland. The park contains numerous attractions, including the Silesian Stadium, the Silesian Zoological Garden, a planetarium, and the Legendia amusement park. The Silesian Stadium is a national landmark, having hosted many legendary football matches and massive concerts. Chorzów maintains its industrial heritage through various monuments while providing modern urban amenities for the millions living in the Silesian metropolis.

Your day in Chorzów begins at the bustling Market Square, the city's heart. From there, you'll dive into the industrial past with a visit to the Szyb Prezydent. At noon, you take a long walk to the vast Silesian Park, a green oasis inviting you to relax. The afternoon is dedicated to culture, with a deep dive into regional traditions at the Ethnographic Park. As evening approaches, you return to the Market Square to round off the day.
The morning starts at Chorzów Market Square under umbrellas, where modern architecture glitters in the rain. The President Mine Shaft Tower offers a raw, industrial atmosphere under grey skies. At noon, we seek refuge in the Cultural Centre, an ideal spot to stay dry and enjoy local art. The short walks in the city center are manageable even in damp weather. In the afternoon, we explore Silesian Park. The wide alleys provide some shelter under the trees, and the cafes are inviting for a cozy break as raindrops tap against the windows. Evening leads us back to the Market Square. City lights reflect in the puddles, giving the return a special, almost cinematic glow before heading for dinner.
A frosty morning at Chorzów Market Square, where breath freezes in the cold air. The modern design of the square looks particularly clean and peaceful under a thin layer of snow. At noon, we marvel at the President Mine Shaft Tower. The rusty metal creates a sharp contrast with the white snow. A short walk keeps the circulation going before we warm up. Afternoon belongs to Silesian Park. The bare trees and frozen ground create an almost magical silence. In the Ethnographic Park, old farmhouses look like they are from another time. As dusk sets in around 4:30 PM, we return to the brightly lit Market Square. Winter illumination provides a warm atmosphere while we finish the day with a hot tea.
A day on two wheels in Chorzów takes you from the urban center to the region's green lung. After starting at the Market Square and stopping at the industrial monument Szyb Prezydent, you'll cycle to the immense Silesian Park. The morning and early afternoon are dedicated to the park's numerous attractions: the stadium, the planetarium, and the Legendia amusement park. Each stop is a short ride from the others. In the late afternoon, you cycle back to the center, rich with impressions of culture, sport, and nature.
A wet start at the market square. We check our gear under the canopy before heading to the President tower, which shimmers in the rain. At noon, we cycle towards Silesian Park. The paved bike paths are manageable, but we must watch out for puddles. Silesian Stadium offers impressive photo ops even under grey skies. In the afternoon, the Silesian Planetarium provides the perfect sanctuary. We park the bikes and enjoy the stars while staying dry. Then we head to Legendia, soaking in the park's atmosphere. Evening brings us back to the center. We ride carefully over the wet asphalt, looking forward to a warm shower and a hearty Polish dinner after the damp tour.
A cool morning start. Wrapped up warm, we cycle from the market square. The wind chill is icy, but the clear view of the President tower rewards the effort. At noon, we reach Silesian Park. The air is crisp, and paths are mostly cleared. The stadium looks even more monumental in the winter landscape. Constant pedaling keeps us warm. Afternoon brings us to the Planetarium. Here we can warm up thoroughly while observing the universe. The subsequent ride through the winter park is peaceful and silent. Towards evening, we return to the market square. Darkness falls early, so we rely on our bright lights. A hot cocoa in the center is the perfect end to this frosty tour.
By car, you'll experience two faces of Chorzów. The morning starts in the historic center, a pedestrian-friendly cluster around the Market Square and industrial heritage. After exploring the urban core, you drive to the second, much larger cluster: the Silesian Park. You park the car and spend the rest of the day discovering the vast attractions like the stadium, the open-air museum, and the planetarium on foot. This combination of a short drive and long walks offers the best of both worlds.
We start relaxed in the dry car. Parking near the market square allows for quick photos before the rain gets too heavy. At noon, we drive to the President tower. We can drive almost to the entrance and admire the industrial might while the wipers work incessantly. Afternoon is perfect for Silesian Park. We use the large parking lot by the stadium and visit the Planetarium. Inside, we forget the bad weather while looking at the stars. Evening leads us back to the center. The illuminated streets shimmer in the rain, and we easily find parking near a good restaurant to wrap up the day.
We start the day in a preheated car. The market square looks enchanted in the early morning light with hoarfrost. Parking in winter is straightforward. At noon, we head for the President tower. The heater is on while we admire the impressive steel construction from outside and briefly inside. Afternoon in Silesian Park is comfortable thanks to the car. We park centrally and visit the stadium and the warm Planetarium. We enjoy the snowy landscape during short walks. In the evening, we drive through winter-lit Chorzów. We park right in front of our destination in the center and enjoy the warmth of a traditional inn.
