Phewa Lake is the second largest lake in Nepal and the focal point of the Pokhara Valley. Situated at an altitude of 742 meters, it is world-renowned for the spectacular reflection of Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Peak) and the Annapurna massif on its surface. In the center of the lake, on a small island, stands the Hindu Tal Barahi Temple, a significant 18th-century religious monument. The lake is a semi-natural freshwater body whose water level is regulated by a dam, supporting both local fisheries and hydropower generation. The shoreline area, known as 'Lakeside,' has evolved into a major hub for international travelers.
