Tilicho Lake
Tilicho Lake sits at a dizzying altitude of nearly 5,000 meters and is the highlight of the Annapurna Circuit for many trekkers. The inhospitable yet dramatic high-mountain landscape and the deep blue water, often dotted with icebergs, provide a surreal backdrop. Hikers come here to overcome the challenge of high altitude and enjoy the silence of the mountains. Sustenance at the base camps is simple, consisting mostly of energy-rich grains and soups. The region is spiritually significant and mentioned in the Ramayana epic. Access requires a demanding trek from Manang over steep slopes. The best times to visit are April to May and October to November when the weather is stable and the risk of avalanches is lower.
