Sastavci Bridge (Montenegro)

Weather…

The Sastavci Bridge, also known as the Old Ribnica Bridge, is the oldest standing bridge in Montenegro's capital, Podgorica. It spans the Ribnica River at its confluence with the Morača River, in an area historically called Sastavci. The bridge was built during the Ottoman period, likely in the 15th or 16th century, atop the foundations of an even older Roman structure. Constructed from coarse stone with a single graceful arch, it serves as a classic example of Ottoman engineering in the Balkans. In the 18th century, the bridge underwent significant reconstruction commissioned by Adži-paša Osmanagić, leading some to refer to it as Adži-paša's Bridge. Today, the bridge and the surrounding riverbanks are a favorite social hub for both locals and tourists, especially during the warm summer evenings. It stands as a resilient symbol of Podgorica's layered history, surviving the heavy aerial bombardments of World War II.
